Office Guidelines for Keeping Everyone Healthy

It can be hard to decide whether or not to miss an appointment due to illness, especially if you are in need of the support of your therapist as soon as possible. Please keep in mind, though, that some of the clients who come to Gifted Matters are immuno-compromised, and will experience significantly worse problems than “the common cold” if they get sick. Also, when a therapist gets sick, many clients can end up missing their appointments due to cancellation.

In light of the importance of keeping everyone as healthy as possible, please follow these guidelines:

  • Don’t come to the office sick, or bring your children when they are sick.

This includes bringing an ailing sibling in with your healthy child who has an appointment.

If you are sick, we will try to reschedule. Some clients may also be eligible to have a phone or video session in lieu of their in-person session – check with your or your child’s therapist if you are interested in this option.

We never charge for late cancellations in case of illness, even if you discover that illness on the way to our office.

  • Please wash your hands.

If you have been around someone who is sick (for example you’ve been caring for a sick child), please take a moment to clean your hands on the way into your appointment. We provide hand sanitizer, or you can go the bathroom and wash up there.

  •  Please handle your own trash in the office.

It keeps the staff healthier if you can dispose of your own cups, tissues, food wrappers, etc, in the the receptacles provided.

Thank you so much for your help in keeping us all healthy!
